Thai, also known as Siamese, is the official language of Thailand and is spoken by around 60 million people as their mother tongue. Thai language has various influences from Pali, Sanskrit, Khmer and Chinese. The Thai script is also based on the Khmer script and uses an alphabetical system with consonantal characters.
